After graduating from nursing school in 1996, Antra started her career as a nurse and officer in the United States Navy. Her clinical specialty is surgical nursing.  After obtaining her master's degree in nursing and with twenty years in the operating room, Antra left clinical nursing and started Connected Care Patient Advocates LLC, which allows her to walk hand in hand with someone experiencing a medical crisis, helping them navigate the healthcare system. Antra is passionate about collaboration and connection and this has fueled her desire to support people  on their journey to health and wellness. She sees her role as both an RN with clinical expertise and as a health coach.

In 2018, Antra was diagnosed with a very ovarian cancer. This experience threw her right into the shoes of the patient and she was totally flabbergasted when she realized that navigating cancer by oneself, even with family support, was nearly impossible and she was a nurse! Antra had several registered nurse patient advocates by her side through diagnosis, treatment and post recovery and she is certain that no matter who you are, an advocate is indispensable. She maintains that she could not have had the excellent outcome that she did without their help and support.

[My advocate] is both compassionate and detail oriented; the perfect mix for a nurse and an advocate! She quickly absorbed my background and goals for the medical history project and produced a meticulous timeline and other materials that have proved invaluable in establishing a new medical network in my home.

I really appreciated the support and guidance I received both for myself and my family. It put us all at ease to have an advocate in our corner. This made a huge difference in my ability to advocate for myself and to navigate what I was going through.

My nurse advocate has been invaluable to my husband and me in finding appropriate care and placement for my sister who is suffering from advanced Parkinson's Disease. She reviewed and commented on every suggested treatment option and referred us to appropriate professionals for further assistance.
